The UK Moth Class Association is pleased to announce that the 2011 Moth UK National Championships will be hosted by Stokes Bay Sailing Club.
The 2011 Championships will be raced from the 7th – 10th of July in The Solent off Stokes Bay, which already has an established and growing Moth fleet, who amongst its ranks include ex UK National Champion Jason Belben, and Kevin Ellway, designer of the successful ‘Ninja’ moth and foils.
There will be daily post-race analysis of each days racing with the leading contenders, followed by Q&A sessions, thereby aiding sailors to get the most out of their boats set up and performance. A strong emphasis is being put on the increasing number of newcomers to the Moth Class.
Many times it has been said that the fastest way to master the art of foiling, is to participate in a major regatta with other sailors, where you will learn a lot more in a short space of time assisted by being able to bounce ideas off, and openly learn new techniques from, some of the best sailors in the Class today.
In view of the rising number of non-UK entries over the past few years, the Class Association will be awarding a new UK Open Trophy to the highest placed foreign entry. Also, there will be a daily prize giving and happy hour, with spot prizes awarded by the ‘spot prize committee’!
The full detailed programme will be announced in due course, but rest assured this is one event in 2011 not one to be missed, and there is already the anticipation of this being the biggest Moth UK National Championships held for years, with well over 50 boats expected.
